Juniors

There different levels for junior hockey in Newcastle are: Joeys, Kangas, u12, u14, u16, u18

Joeys

Joeys is 7 players per team and played on a quarter of the field across the field. The emphasis is on the kids enjoying themselves while learning basic skills and getting as many touches on the ball as possible. The age group is generally for u8 but can be flexible. Joeys is played on a Saturday morning.

Kangas

Kangas builds on Joeys moving to 9 players per team played on half a field across the field. The emphasis remains on the kids enjoying themselves, building on basic skills and getting as many touches on the ball as possible. The age group is generally for u10 but can be flexible. Kangas is played on a Saturday morning.

u12, u14, u16, u18

Building on Joeys and Kangas sees these age groups move to a full 11 players per team with the matches played on a full field. Enjoyment still remains a focus while more advanced skills and game play are developed.

u12 is played on a Wednesday night (5:25pm and 6:25pm timeslots). It is also broken up into 2 Divisions (u12-1 and u12-2).

u14, u16, u18 are played on a Friday night (5:30pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm timeslots).
